Classic Arms Corporation Custom 1885 High Wall 6mm Remington $13,950

C.A.C. Rifle No.13

27 1/2" barrel by Ron Smith, with flat-topped ovoid profile by Ralf Martini;

beaded blade front sight, one standing gold-triangle-inlaid and 1 folding

gold-line inlaid express sights, and broad sling swivel stud. Fully figured

California English walnut stocks by Reto Buehler with ebony forend tip,

steel capped pistol grip, classic point-pattern checkering, beaded pancake

cheekpiece, rear swivel stud, and smooth steel Biesen shotgun buttplate.

Original Winchester Model 1885 High Wall action with double-set trigger

and with stock through-bolt conversion showing no visible tang screws

either top or bottom. Leupold Vari-X III 3.5 - 10x scope with fine duplex

reticle on refined Talley quick-detachable mounts with custom levers.

Classic Arms leather sling on Winchester SuperGrade swivels. Scroll

engraved by Lee Griffiths on action, lever, grip cap, buttplate. Pull: 14 1/8".

Weight: 9lbs, 6oz. Action originally built in 1887, therefore Antique. Rifle in

new condition as custom built. With breech-end cleaning rod guide, MCA

Sports .22LR adapter, and unloading tool by James Tucker.

John Dickson & Son, Single Barrel Flintlock Fowler 16ga $12,750

63 Princes Street, Edinburgh

35" round damascus barrel with wedding-band transition to octagonal

breech section, single fine steel front bead sight and scroll engraved

casehardened breechblock. 15" length of pull to smooth steel buttplate with

extended, engraved top heel flange. Fine scroll engraved, case-colored lock

with swept rainproof pan, ventilated pan-cover with roller-bearing frizzen,

flat-sided hammer and platinum-lined touch hole. Varnished, figured walnut

stock with horn forend tip, crosspin fastener with engraved escutcheons,

checkered grip, teardrops, pineapple finial and vacant silver escutcheon.

Scroll engraved pistol-grip triggerguard. Brass-tipped ramrod retained under

barrel with three pipes. Weight: 6lbs, 3oz. Retaining most all of its original

finish and possibly unfired. Delivered to Charles Gordon April 10, 1893.

Exhibited at the British Sporting Exhibition at the Imperial Institute, London,

January 14-30, 1938 by then-owner W. Keith Neal, author of The Mantons.

Roger Ferrell Custom Winchester 1885 Low Wall .22 LR $9,995

24" cut-rifled Brux barrel with match chamber, tapered and contoured by

Roger Ferrell to octagon-to-round, and with Montana Vintage Arms (Beech-

type) combination front sight. Highly figured California English walnut

stocks with ebony-inlaid schnabel forend tip, classic point-pattern

checkering, ebony-inlaid, S-curve pistol grip, classic comb with beaded

cheekpiece and blued steel crescent buttplate. Casehardened, very early

Winchester Low Wall panelled action when they were first made from high

walls, with new high-wall breechblock, new improved extractor requiring far

less steel be removed from barrel breech, and fire-blued single-set trigger.

MVA Scheutzen-style vernier rear tang sight. Pull: 14". Weight: 6lbs, 13oz.

Action made early 1887. Rifle never sold at retail and virtually new as

custom built. Subject of an article in "Gunmaker" Winter 2024/Issue 185, and

pictured on the back cover.

C B Holden, Hammer Falling Block Sidelock .36 Cal $19,995

Worcester, Mass. Single Shot Long Range Creedmoor Rifle

30" tapered round fluid steel barrel with front sight bead and provision for

windgauge sight, and Rocky Mountain rear barrel sight. Figured walnut

stock with engraved nickel-plated forend tip, classic point-pattern

checkering, nickel-plated steel pistol grip cap and buttplate---lower buttplate

screw checkered to integrate with checkering pattern on butt. Sculptural

action body with inletted sidelock on right and matching sideplate on left---

both scroll engraved and casehardened, manual extractor lever on top,

hinged loading lever ahead of trigger. Long range vernier tang sight. Pull: 13

5/8". Weight: 9lbs, 9 1/2oz. Very fine condition, retaining 99% nickle, 95%

casehardening and 95%blue. Excellent bore.

Isaac Hollis & Sons Hammer Toplever Sidelock .450 #1 & 16ga $7,450

Cape Gun

26" SxS damascus barrels with flat matted solid rib, fine bead front sight and

3 folding platinum-lined leaf sights engraved for 100, 200 & 300 yards.

Figured English walnut stock with horn forend tip, Deeley-release splinter

forend, classic point-pattern checkering with mullered borders, horn-capped

pistol grip, vacant brass oval, and original makers monogram checkered

hardrubber buttplate. Peninsular sidelock hammer toplever action with non-

rebounding hammers, double triggers, percussion fences, active doll's head

third fastener and extended bottom tang. Sling eyes on barrel and rear of

buttstock. Pull: 14 1/8". Weight: 8lbs, 6oz. 95% barrel brown. 70% original

casehardening colors. 90% original triggerguard and tang high-polish blue.

Excellent Metford-rifled and smooth shotgun bore. With loading data.

H W Mortimer, Cased Pair Sidelock Flintlock .64 calibre $8,950

London Pistols

7" flat-topped round damascus smoothbore barrels with brass bead front

sights, engraved LONDON. V-notch rear sights. Stocked to the muzzles and

with fully checkered bag-handled grips and with vacant silver escutcheons

atop wrists. Lightly-engraved sidelock actions with rain-proof pans, roller-

bearing frizzens, and sliding safeties. Long-tang triggerguard with pineapple

finials. Brass-tipped ramrods with worm retained in fire-blued pipe. In

retailer R. Essex's green-baize-lined oak case with bullet mold, oil bottle,

powder flask, cleaning rod with tips, flints, balls, turnscrew, and bone-

handled brush. Retaining 80% barrel brown, 90% original high-polish blue

on triggerguards, traces of original casehardening colors on locks. Even the

engraver's stadia lines for the maker's name are still visible on the lockplates.

Joseph Needham, Bar-in-Wood 12ga, 2 1/2" $18,750

London Hammer Sidelever Sidelock Shotgun

30" SxS browned damascus steel barrels with smooth concave rib choked

skeet & skeet. 15" pull from front trigger to high-polish-blue smooth steel

buttplate. 1 3/8" - 2 3/8" drop. 1/2" cast off. Figured English walnut stocks

with keyed splinter forend, classic point-pattern checkering, straight English

grip, and teardrops. Sidelock action with side opening lever interlocked to

operate only when non-rebounding hammers are cocked. London blackpowder proofed

at 13-bore. Weight: 7 pounds. In solid oak case lined in blue baize and with

original maker's label. The maker's name styling dates it to 1854 - 1869.

Missing horn(?) forend tip insert. Stunning, time-warp original condition.

Sharps-Borchardt Model 1878 Mid-Range Rifle .40-50 Sharps Straight $36,750

32" tapered round barrel, gold-banded at muzzle and breech, with front sight

dovetail, Old Reliable inlaid in gold, and Lawrence tangent elevator rear

sight. Highly figured American walnut stocks with schnabel forend tip,

classic point-pattern checkering, S-curved pistol grip, classic comb,

engraved gold initial oval, and bright-finished crescent steel buttplate.

Sharps 1878 hammerless falling block action with factory engraved hard

rubber sidepanel inserts, trigger-lock safety, and mid-range vernier tang

sight. Extensively engraved by Winston Churchill with fine acanthus scroll

covering the action, extending four inches onto the barrel from the breech

and two inches from the muzzle. Game scene of three Rocky Mountain

sheep on left, the central one in three-dimensional gold and a golden buck

on right. Signed W. CHURCHILL ENGR. atop breech. Excellent bore. With

appraisal by J R LaRue and collection of artisanal-made loading tools.

J H Snelling, Bronze Yacht Canon 2  1/4 inch bore $39,750

New York

36" bronze barrel with touch hole and integral trunnions; 4 1/4" diameter at

muzzle; 6 5/16" diameter at breech. Mahogany naval carriage with bronze

mountings and elevation screw. 8" diameter iron-rimmed wooden wheels

on bronze axles. 18" overall height, measured with barrel horizontal.

Absolutely magnificent. Very fine condition.

London Detachable Shoulder Stock

8 1/2" SxS damascus shoe-lump barrels with smooth flat rib and bead front

sight. Light scroll engraved receiver with rebounding hammers and Jones

underlever. Figured walnut stocks with point-pattern checkering, keyed

forend with horn tip, steel buttcap with lanyard loop. Detachable shoulder

stock of highly figured walnut with smooth steel buttplate and brass

attachment fittings. Retaining 85% barrel brown and 50% casehardening

colors. Fine bores.
