John Dickson & Son Round Action Hammerless 12ga, 2 3/4" $34,250

Toplever Ejector Cased Pair

29" SxS fluid steel chopper-lump barrels with smooth concave ribs and

nickel-silver front beads, both choked improved cylinder & modified. The

number 1 gun, 15" pull from front trigger to checkered wood butt extension;

the number 2 gun, 14" pull from front trigger to checkered wood butt. Both

guns with 1 5/8" - 2 3/8" drop and a trace of cast-off. Black streaked figured

English walnut stocks with Anson-pushbutton-release splinter forends,

straight English grips, classic point-pattern checkering and vacant initial

ovals. Fine scroll engraved actions with rib-extension third fasteners,

automatic ejectors and automatic top tang safeties with SAFE inlaid in gold.

Weights: Gun 1: 6lbs, 10oz; Gun 2: 6lbs, 8oz. London proofed in 2004. Also

with original pairs of 29" damascus dovetail-lump barrels with 2 1/2"

chambers and London nitro proofed for 1 1/8oz. All components numbered 1

& 2. Gun No.1 built in 1899 and the second added nine months later to make

the pair, both for A. L. Jessop---whose name still appears on the case lid.

Tight, and with excellent bores. All ejectors function properly and in time. In

original oak & leather double trunk case, with recently re-fit interior, and

including turnscrews, cleaning rod and tips, snap caps, oil bottle and

original leather maker's trade label.

John Dickson & Son, Single Barrel Flintlock Fowler 16ga $12,750

63 Princes Street, Edinburgh

35" round damascus barrel with wedding-band transition to octagonal

breech section, single fine steel front bead sight and scroll engraved

casehardened breechblock. 15" length of pull to smooth steel buttplate with

extended, engraved top heel flange. Fine scroll engraved, case-colored lock

with swept rainproof pan, ventilated pan-cover with roller-bearing frizzen,

flat-sided hammer and platinum-lined touch hole. Varnished, figured walnut

stock with horn forend tip, crosspin fastener with engraved escutcheons,

checkered grip, teardrops, pineapple finial and vacant silver escutcheon.

Scroll engraved pistol-grip triggerguard. Brass-tipped ramrod retained under

barrel with three pipes. Weight: 6lbs, 3oz. Retaining most all of its original

finish and possibly unfired. Delivered to Charles Gordon April 10, 1893.

Exhibited at the British Sporting Exhibition at the Imperial Institute, London,

January 14-30, 1938 by then-owner W. Keith Neal, author of The Mantons.

English Boxlock Ejector 12ga, 2 3/4" $6,650

30" SxS chopper-lump barrels, with low flat matted rib, choked cylinder and

tight improved modified. 14 3/8" pull from front trigger to checkered wood

butt finished with engraved steel heel & toe plates. 1 5/8" - 2 3/4" drop. No

cast. Fully figured English walnut stocks with Anson pushbutton release

splinter forend, flat sidepanels with teardrops, round knob half pistol grip,

classic point-pattern checkering and vacant silver initial oval. Very finely

scroll-engraved action with sculptured and feather-detailed fences, two

pointers on left, two setters on right, two pheasants and a snipe on the

triggerplate, and two ducks in a marsh scene on the triggerguard bow.

Automatic top tang safety with SAFE inlaid in gold. Weight: 6lbs, 11oz.

Birmingham proved under the rules of 1904 - 1925 for 1 1/4oz loads. Virtually

all the original finishes intact. Tight. Barrels ring like chimes and with

excellent bores. A very high quality gun, inexplicably unsigned.

Harrison & Hussey, Ltd. Sidelock Ejector 20ga, 2 3/4" $19,975.

28″ SxS chopper-lump barrels with smooth concave rib choked cylinder &

modified. 13 5/8" pull from front trigger to perished old Silvers pad. 1 9/16 -

2 1/8" drop. 1/2" cast-off. Fully figured European walnut stock with Anson-

pushbutton-release splinter forend, straight English grip with semi-diamond

hand, teardrops, classic point pattern checkering with mullered borders and

gold oval. Case-hardened, small-frame, sidelock action stocked to the fences

and with gold-line cocking indicators, intercepting sears, automatic ejectors

and automatic top tang safety with SAFE inlaid in gold. Action and

lockplates with fine English rose & scroll engraving. Weight: 5lbs, 9oz.

London nitro proofs for 7/8oz. Built 1923. Fine condition, retaining most of

the original casehardening colors on the lockplates. 98% barrel blue.

Excellent bores. Tight action. Barrels on face and ring like chimes. Ejectors

in time. In maker’s original oak and leather case with brass corners, lined in

scarlet baize, with gold embossed black leather maker's label inside lid,

containing Harrison & Hussey-marked square oil bottle, brass jag, and a wad

of tow.

Sidelock Ejector

28" SxS chopper-lump barrels with smooth concave rib choked improved

cylinder & modified. 14 7/8" pull from front trigger to thin brown Decelerator

recoil pad. 1 1/2" - 2" drop. 1/2" cast off. Lightly figured European walnut

stocks with Anson-release splinter forend, straight English grip, classic

point-pattern checkering with mullered borders, teardrops, and silver oval

bearing initials RHW. Traditional Royal-engraved action, polished bright;

hand-detachable sidelocks by Brazier, with intercepting sears, gold-line

cocking indicators and automatic top tang safety with SAFE inlaid in gold.

Gold number 1 on each component. Weight: 6lbs, 15oz. London nitro

proved for 2 1/2" cartridges. Built 1910. 99%+ proper London barrel reblack.

Tight, and with excellent bores. In sound, leg-of-mutton case by Holland

Sport, USA.

Anson-release splinter forend, straight English grip, classic point-pattern

checkering with mullered borders, and vacant silver initial oval. Scroll

engraved action with automatic ejectors, automatic top tang safety and with

"20th Century" engraved in a banner on each side. Weight: 5lbs, 3oz. Built

ca 1936, almost certainly by Skimin & Wood, Birmingham, England. 99%+

old reblue on barrels. 20% original casehardening colors on action. Two-

inch chambers unaltered. In English, period, leather VC case.

walnut stocks with Anson pushbutton-release splinter forends, classic

point-pattern checkering, straight English grips, beaded triggerguards, and

vacant gold initial ovals. Fine English rose & scroll engraved, bar-action,

key-lock sidelocks with gold-line cocking indicators and intercepting sears.

All components inlaid A & B in gold. Built 1929. Imported by Abercrombie

& Fitch, New York. 98% blue, 20% casehardening colors. Tight. Excellent

London Hammer Sidelever Sidelock Shotgun

30" SxS browned damascus steel barrels with smooth concave rib choked

skeet & skeet. 15" pull from front trigger to high-polish-blue smooth steel

buttplate. 1 3/8" - 2 3/8" drop. 1/2" cast off. Figured English walnut stocks

with keyed splinter forend, classic point-pattern checkering, straight English

grip, and teardrops. Sidelock action with side opening lever interlocked to

operate only when non-rebounding hammers are cocked. London blackpowder proofed

at 13-bore. Weight: 7 pounds. In solid oak case lined in blue baize and with

original maker's label. The maker's name styling dates it to 1854 - 1869.

Missing horn(?) forend tip insert. Stunning, time-warp original condition.

English grip, classic point-pattern checkering with mullered borders,

teardrops and vacant gold oval. Coin-finished casehardened sidelock

action, engraved by Keith Thomas with gold inlaid hare on left lock and

gold inlaid cock pheasant on right and with maker's name in gold on

underside, serial number in gold on tang, all surrounded with acanthus vine-

leaf scroll. Gold-line cocking indicators, rolled triggerguard and automatic

top tang safety with SAFE inlaid in gold. Weight: 6lbs, 12oz. Built 1978.

99%+ barrel blue. Tight and with excellent bores. In leather trunk case, with

maker's label, load card and Glaser, Zurich retailer's label. Cleaning rod, snap

Holland & Holland-type assisted-opening mechanism, automatic ejectors,

gold-line cocking indicators, and maker's name inlaid in gold. Game scene

engraved by Ken Hunt and with pheasants in flight on left, a covey of flying

grouse on right, and mallards landing on the underside, all surrounded with

acanthus scroll. Signed on both lockplates and microscopically on

underside of receiver. Weight: 6lbs, 9oz. Built 1989. 99%blue and 99%

casehardening colors, Tight, and with excellent bores. Ejectors in perfect

time. In maker's leather trunk case with numerous engraved accessories and

heavy canvas overcase.
