Bolt Stop - A displaceable flange, usually towards the rear of a bolt action firearm which in normal position, either detented or under spring tension, prevents the bolt from falling completely out of the rifle when cycling the action. It is readily moved aside by the bolt stop release (above) to allow removal of the bolt for cleaning or disassembly.
