Single Barrel Flintlock Fowler 16 Gauge
| 35" round damascus barrel with wedding-band transition to octagonal |
| breech section, single fine steel front bead sight and scroll engraved |
| casehardened breechblock. 15" length of pull to smooth steel buttplate with |
| extended, engraved top heel flange. Fine scroll engraved, case-colored lock |
| with swept rainproof pan, ventilated pan-cover with roller-bearing frizzen, |
| flat-sided hammer and platinum-lined touch hole. Varnished, figured walnut |
| stock with horn forend tip, crosspin fastener with engraved escutcheons, |
| checkered grip, teardrops, pineapple finial and vacant silver escutcheon. |
| Scroll engraved pistol-grip triggerguard. Brass-tipped ramrod retained under |
| barrel with three pipes. Weight: 6lbs, 3oz. Retaining most all of its original |
| finish and possibly unfired. Delivered to Charles Gordon April 10, 1893. |
| Exhibited at the British Sporting Exhibition at the Imperial Institute, London, |
| January 14-30, 1938 by then-owner W. Keith Neal, author of The Mantons. |
