Underside of chamber area. Note importer's mark in the slot between the sight-band wings. Hallowell & Co imported this rifle in 1988, when we were still in Greenwich, Connecticut.

25" barrel with 1 standing and 1 folding express sight on nearly-full-band base, full-band-band swivel base and full-band fine front bead sight with flip-over twilight bead. Pillar-bedded Mauser 98 action with both Model 70-type safety and side-tang safety. Engraved, casehardened, recoil crossbolt. Dropped, slant-box, 4-shot magazine with hinged straddle floorplate and release inside the triggerguard. Modified Sako trigger unit. 14 1/8"pull to solid brown pad. Highly figured, oil-finished European walnut stock with classic comb, beaded pancake cheekpiece, classic point-pattern checkering, slightly diamond-shaped grip, casehardened trapdoor pistol grip cap containing a spare front sight blade and gold oval. Zeiss 4x32 scope with rubber-coated objective bell and fine duplex reticle on Holland's quick-detachable mount numbered to the rifle. Weight: 9lbs, 15oz with scope. Built 1986. Little used. $24,500.
