The minimum barrel wall thicknesses I could find in each set of barrels are as follows:

25" Barrels: minimum wall thicknesses .020" in both barrels.

28" Barrels minimum wall thicknesses .032" in both barrels;

The original chopper-lump barrels, built by Purdey, numbered to the gun, and bearing Purdey barrel tube numbers 31522 & 31523 on the forend loop, measure 25” long. Amongst the proofmarks for both barrels is stamped the word CHOKE. That means that when proved, they had material (but not exactly specified) constriction at the muzzles, ie: not for ball. The right bore measures .742” internal diameter with .008” constriction. The left bore measures .740” internal diameter with .012” constriction. Such constrictions might have been accomplished by backboring the rest of the inside behind the choke area. There is no sign of any sweated-in choke sleeves. The edges of the tubes touch at the muzzle; there is no obvious sign that they have been shortened. But, indeed, they must have been.

The extra, dovetail barrels do not bear Purdey barrel tube numbers on the forend loop, are London proved in 1989, and measure 28” long. They are engraved with Purdey’s standard marking on the top rib, but they were built by someone else in the trade---whom, I know not. The work is to appropriate standard and they ring like chimes. The right bore measures .728” internal diameter with .008” constriction. The left bore measures .728” internal diameter with .018” constriction.
